1283 is designated as the Chief Officer Vehicle, and is used by the Chief for traveling around the area and responding to calls, when necessary. 1283 may also be used by fire department personnel for going to training or school activities if 1281 is in use. There is generally a full set of fire gear as well as other Personal Protective Equipment stored in the bed to facilitate rapid response. 1283 is also equipped with a full compliment of emergency lighting and a mobile radio.
